My dad came to visit me for a few days, the first family member to visit me since my college graduation. I had a blast hanging out with him and sharing our interests. My dad and I are both into music, but he has more experience and education in playing a musical instrument (whereas I only know how to sing by ear). So I'm glad I was able to help him fulfill his dream of impromptu street performing. I also helped him upload videos of his performances to Youtube!
My dad is awesome.

Winter Holiday Garland
Inspired by this, I decided to make my own garland for the office holiday potluck using holiday themed scrapbook paper, cut into triangles, and a sewing machine. What fun!
Some other fun garlands:
Napkin flowers, felt balls, and poms
More poms and felt balls
Watercolor paper chain
Felt twists

Shuck Yeah!
Partook in oysters at the Tomales Bay Oyster Company near Point Reyes, CA. Stats - 7 people, 50 small oysters, 50 medium oysters, another dozen medium oysters, and a dozen large oysters. THAT'S 124 OYSTERS! Some were consumed raw, others were barbequed on the half shell or fully in the shell. And let me tell you, shucking is so much fun.

She's On Fire!
This is me jumping over the fire obstacle at the Warrior Dash in Hollister, CA - I have an awkward way of moving my body.

Local Natives @ The Fillmore
Went to a Local Natives concert at The Fillmore in SF. 'Twas awesome! I don't typically go to concerts, but this is the first time in my life in which I can honestly say the band live was better than the recording. Best parts: playing one song (Shape Shifter?) slower than the recording for extra drama and rocking out to Sun Hands.
The opening bands, The Union Line and The Love Language, were awesome as well. Will most definitely be getting my hands on their music.

Blackbeard Brand
I would totally buy this product if it were real.
The Story of Cosmetics
After watching The Story of Cosmetics and reading No More Dirty Looks, I did some research on cosmetics and beauty product brands that are primarily non-toxic. There are quite a few out there, but I am leaning heavily towards Josie Maran's line. Even though I don't wear much makeup, I'm still interested in using products for evening out my skin tone and skin hydration.
Even cooler, I found that the CA Dept of Public Health has a Safe Cosmetics Program!
**Edit**
Jimmy informed me of the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Cosmetic Safety Database. Great resource.

Knit Tank with Yoke
This is the tank I finally finished. It didn't turn out exactly the way I wanted it to, but I still wore it. I was hoping for a quirky tank top, not something a kid would wear. More like this or this. Maybe the prints I chose make it seem more juvenile? Or the neckline?
I wonder what other people do when they finish a project they don't like 100%...
