My New Apartment

I've been pretty busy since moving at the beginning of the month. Most of my time has been spent furniture hunting, cleaning and organizing, swimming at the Municipal Natatorium (which is within walking distance!), running at the nearby park, going to the local wine bar, getting papusas, spending time with new neighbors...you get the idea. If you haven't figured it out by now, I am definitely loving my new place and neighborhood!

My apartment is not completely done yet. I still need some big ticket furniture items such as a couch, coffee table, rug, lounge chairs, lighting, etc. Based on how the furniture hunting is going so far it may be awhile before it's all "finished." But here's a sneak peek at my new place so far!

I got this blue metal shelf from the Junktique Sale put on by the local church. I can't remember, but I think it cost $25 dollars. Cleaned it up and am now using it as a "liquor cabinet." On top, I put my various syrups (elderflower, orgeat, and vanilla), the two bottles of noccino liquor made by Joey (they won't be ready for a few months), some paper flowers, and a Local Natives poster. The small shelf holding what little board games Albert and I have reminds me of The Albatross.

A view of my kitchen. The cupboards are so Ikea.

Awesome, awesome mid-century modern dining set made out of teak wood and green, tweed upholstery. Leaves down...

Leaves up! Sexy.

More kitchen area. You gotta have the Meltyblend and Pocky, man.

Kitchen sink with (get this) basil scented Meyer soap! That frog dude right there is named El Frogito.

Rice cooker corner. Yup, it's got flowers on it.

Drink section of my fridge. Did you know that Ikea sells juice boxes of elderflower and lingonberry drink? Of course, I had to get some.

Bookshelf with books organized by color.

Bathroom sink area. I love the orange wall color! So glad I didn't have to paint it myself.

That's it for now. I can't wait until the furniture hunting is done so that I can go back to normal and just enjoy my place.

Penny Ice Creamery

Visited Penny Ice Creamery while in Santa Cruz. They were one of the food providers that participated in the Outstanding in the Field event at Fogline Farm providing strawberry with pepper and vanilla ice cream. These pictures are of an ice cream cone with fennel and barley ice cream and a trio with barley, coffee, and something else I can't remember.

Bear's Ramen House

Visited Bear's Ramen House for the first time during graduation weekend. Kimchi fried rice with spam and sunny side up egg is awesome. So was Albert's ramen.

Outstanding in the Field @ Fogline Farm

Awesome, awesome, awesome event. I would highly recommend that everyone do this at least once in your life. The event included a reception with hors d'oeuvres and wine, tour of the farm, three course meal with wine pairings and dessert. I'm just sad I don't have pictures of the food.
